Selective clearing beats scraping it flat

The fastest way to clear a lot is to push everything into a pile and burn it. It's also the fastest way to destroy the thing that made the lot worth buying.

A mature shade tree adds real, appraisable value to a finished home, and it takes forty years to replace. Before we start, we'll walk the site with you and flag what's worth keeping — the good oaks, the specimen trees, the natural screen along a property line — and then clear around them with the equipment kept outside the critical root zone.

If you're building, this is also the moment to talk about tree protection during construction. Most trees that die on a build site aren't hit by a machine — they're killed by soil compaction and root severance two years earlier, and nobody connects the dots.

What clearing a site involves

• Walk and mark. Keeps, removals, property lines, utilities, drainage, access.
• Utility locate. Non-negotiable before anything goes in the ground.
• Removal. Trees down, brush out, undergrowth cleared.
• Debris. Chipped on site, hauled off, or stacked for a permitted burn — your call and your budget.
• Stumps. Ground below grade, or fully extracted where a foundation or slab is going.
• Grade. Ruts filled, site left workable for the next trade.

Pricing on acreage work depends on density, stem size, terrain and what happens to the debris. Debris disposal is frequently the largest line item on a clearing job — often more than the cutting itself — so it's the first thing we'll want to talk through with you.
